There is something so cozy about the smell of pumpkin bread baking in the oven. When you add swirls of chocolate, it turns into a special treat that feels like a cross between a muffin and a decadent dessert.

My family loves this bread because it stays soft for days. If you want the chocolate swirls to look nice, just use a butter knife to gently pull the chocolate batter through the pumpkin batter. Do not overmix it or the colors will blend into a muddy brown.

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips, melted
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips, for topping

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a standard loaf pan.

In a large bowl, mix the pumpkin puree, oil, sugar, and eggs until smooth.

Slowly stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.

  5. 5

Remove one cup of the batter and stir the melted chocolate into it.

Pour half of the plain pumpkin batter into the loaf pan, then spoon the chocolate batter over it.

  7. 7

Top with the remaining pumpkin batter and use a knife to swirl the two mixtures together.

  8. 8

Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top.

  9. 9

Bake for about 50 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store this bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. It also freezes beautifully if you wrap individual slices in plastic wrap and keep them in a freezer bag.
