There is something so comforting about waking up to the smell of chocolate in the oven. My family loves this granola because it stays crispy and holds onto those delicious little chocolate clumps that everyone fights over.

My biggest tip for this recipe is to let it cool completely on the baking sheet without touching it. This is the secret to getting those big, crunchy clusters that make store bought granola look boring.

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients

  • 3 cups old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup raw sliced almonds
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup melted coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸณInstructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, whisk together the oats, almonds, cocoa powder, and salt until everything is coated in cocoa.

  3. 3

Pour in the melted coconut oil, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Stir well until all the dry ingredients are moistened.

  4. 4

Spread the mixture in an even layer on your prepared baking sheet.

  5. 5

Bake for 20 minutes, then gently stir the granola and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes until it looks dry and fragrant.

  6. 6

Remove the pan from the oven and let it cool completely on the counter without stirring it again.

  7. 7

Once the granola is fully cold, sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top and break the granola into your desired size pieces.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Serve this over a bowl of cold Greek yogurt or pour a little almond milk over it for a quick morning snack. You can store your leftovers in an airtight jar or container in the pantry for up to two weeks.
