There is nothing quite like the smell of apples and cinnamon baking in the oven. This cobbler is a favorite in my house because it is simple to put together and always brings everyone to the table when it is time for dessert.

My best tip is to use a mix of apple varieties for the best texture. Granny Smith apples add a nice tartness that balances out the sweetness of the sugar. Serve this warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a real treat.

🧺 Ingredients

  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

👩‍🍳Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a baking dish.

  2. 2

Toss the sliced apples with the half cup of sugar and the cinnamon in a large bowl, then spread them evenly into your baking dish.

  3. 3

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, one cup of sugar, baking powder, and the egg until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.

  4. 4

Spread the crumble mixture over the apples as evenly as you can.

  5. 5

Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the entire dish.

  6. 6

Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.

💡 Tips

Store any leftovers in the fridge covered for up to three days. You can easily reheat individual portions in the microwave for a few seconds. If you like extra crunch, feel free to sprinkle a few chopped walnuts over the top before baking.
