There is something so comforting about the smell of banana bread baking in the oven. This recipe takes that classic flavor and adds a generous swirl of peanut butter and plenty of chocolate chips for an extra special treat.

I love making this for my family because it uses bananas and maple syrup for natural sweetness. If you want the best results, make sure your bananas are very ripe with plenty of brown spots before you start mashing them.

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter, for the frosting
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, for the frosting

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸณInstructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a standard loaf pan.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, mix the mashed bananas, peanut butter, maple syrup, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. 3

Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined, then fold in the chocolate chips.

  4. 4

Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

  5. 5

Bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

Let the bread cool completely on a wire rack.

  7. 7

Whisk the extra peanut butter and powdered sugar together with a splash of water to create a drizzle, then spread or drizzle it over the cooled loaf.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store your leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. If you want to keep it longer, wrap slices individually and freeze them for an easy breakfast on busy mornings.
