Creamy White Bolognese Pasta
A rich and comforting white meat sauce that feels fancy but is easy to make at home.
recipesbynani.comWhite Bolognese is one of my favorite ways to change up a traditional pasta night. Instead of the usual tomato base, this version uses a blend of beef, pork, and bacon cooked down with aromatic herbs, savory parmesan cheese, and a splash of cream to bring it all together.
It is incredibly satisfying and pairs beautifully with long noodles like tagliatelle or pappardelle. My biggest tip for success is to let the sauce simmer gently, as this allows the flavors of the meat and herbs to meld into the creamy sauce perfectly.
๐งบ Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 4 strips bacon, finely chopped
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon fresh herbs like thyme or parsley
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 pound pasta of your choice
๐ฉโ๐ณInstructions
- 1
Brown the bacon in a large skillet or heavy pot over medium heat until crispy.
- 2
Add the ground beef and ground pork to the pot, cooking until the meat is browned and no pink remains.
- 3
Stir in the onion and garlic, cooking for a few minutes until the onion is soft and translucent.
- 4
Pour in the heavy cream and turn the heat to low, letting the sauce simmer gently for about ten minutes until it thickens slightly.
- 5
While the sauce simmers, boil a large pot of salted water and cook your pasta according to the package directions.
- 6
Stir the parmesan cheese and fresh herbs into the sauce, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 7
Drain the pasta and toss it directly into the skillet with the sauce until every noodle is well coated before serving.
๐ก Tips
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. When reheating, add a tiny splash of water or cream to loosen up the sauce as it can thicken quite a bit when cold.
