Fall Muddy Buddies
A crunchy and sweet snack mix that combines chocolate, peanut butter, and seasonal candies for the perfect fall treat.
recipesbynani.comThis snack mix is a favorite in my house whenever the leaves start to turn. It is the perfect blend of salty and sweet, making it hard to stop eating once you start.
My secret to the best crunch is letting the chocolate and peanut butter mixture set completely before you toss in the soft candies. It keeps everything fresh and prevents the colors from bleeding into the coating.
๐งบ Ingredients
- 9 cups rice cereal squares
- 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup mini pretzels
- 1 cup fall colored M&Ms
- 1 cup Reese's pieces
๐ฉโ๐ณInstructions
- 1
Place the cereal squares in a very large mixing bowl and set aside.
- 2
Combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter in a microwave safe bowl.
- 3
Heat the mixture in the microwave in 30 second bursts, stirring in between, until the mixture is smooth and melted.
- 4
Stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
- 5
Pour the warm chocolate mixture over the cereal and gently stir with a spatula until every piece is evenly coated.
- 6
Add the powdered sugar to a large gallon sized plastic bag.
- 7
Transfer the coated cereal into the bag with the sugar, seal it tight, and shake well until everything is coated in a white powdery layer.
- 8
Spread the mixture out on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool completely.
- 9
Once cooled, toss in the mini pretzels, M&Ms, and Reese's pieces before serving.
๐ก Tips
Store these in an airtight container at room temperature to keep the cereal crunchy for up to one week. If you want to make this for a party, you can add a few extra pretzels for an even saltier bite.
