There is something so comforting about a simple cabbage dish, especially when it comes together in just one pan. It is one of those meals I turn to when I want something filling, healthy, and easy to clean up afterward.

My favorite thing about this recipe is how the cabbage wilts down into the savory beef sauce. If you want to make it extra special, sprinkle a little fresh parsley on top right before you serve it.

🧺 Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small head of green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes, 14 ounces
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

👩‍🍳Instructions

  1. 1

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  2. 2

Add the ground beef and cook until it is browned, then drain any excess fat.

  3. 3

Add the onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook until they soften, which takes about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

  5. 5

Add the chopped cabbage and the canned tomatoes with their juices.

  6. 6

Season with soy sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  7. 7

Cover the pan and let everything simmer for 15 minutes or until the cabbage is as tender as you like it.

  8. 8

Taste and add more seasoning if needed, then serve warm.

💡 Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. This dish tastes even better the next day once the flavors have had time to meld together. Serve it over a warm bowl of white rice for a filling meal.
