There is something so comforting about a well made sandwich for lunch. This recipe brings together salty bacon and creamy Gouda with fresh, crisp apple slices for a surprise crunch that keeps things interesting.

I love making these on weekends when I want something hot and satisfying without spending all day in the kitchen. Make sure to use a good quality bread so it holds up well when you grill it.

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients

  • 2 slices of sourdough or artisan bread
  • 3 ounces sliced turkey breast
  • 2 strips of cooked crispy bacon
  • 1/2 small apple, thinly sliced
  • 2 slices Gouda cheese
  • 1 handful of fresh mixed greens
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon butter

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸณInstructions

  1. 1

Spread the mayonnaise on one slice of bread and the Dijon mustard on the other.

  2. 2

Layer the turkey, bacon, apple slices, and Gouda cheese on the bread.

  3. 3

Top with the remaining slice of bread to close the sandwich.

  4. 4

Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.

  5. 5

Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for about 3 or 4 minutes on each side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

  6. 6

Carefully open the sandwich to tuck in the fresh greens, then slice in half and serve warm.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Serve this with a side of kettle chips or a simple dill pickle for a classic deli style meal. If you have leftovers, store the greens separately so the sandwich does not get soggy. You can reheat it in a toaster oven to get that crunch back.
