Homemade Garlic Parmesan Crazy Bread
A soft and buttery breadstick recipe that tastes just like the famous pizza shop version.
recipesbynani.comEveryone knows that the best part of a pizza night is often the side of warm, garlicky breadsticks. These homemade sticks are so soft and fluffy, and they come out of the oven smelling absolutely wonderful. My family always reaches for these first, and they usually disappear before the main course even hits the table.
The secret to getting that perfect texture is letting the dough rise in a warm spot until it really puffs up. If you are in a rush, you can even use a store bought ball of pizza dough from the grocery store. Just make sure you do not skip the garlic butter and plenty of Parmesan cheese at the end.
๐งบ Ingredients
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast (one packet)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups warm water, between 105 and 110 degrees
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 tablespoons salted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
๐ฉโ๐ณInstructions
- 1
In the bowl of a stand mixer, stir together the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt until they are combined.
- 2
Add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Use a dough hook on low speed to knead everything for about 5 minutes until a smooth ball of dough forms.
- 3
Move the dough to a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 30 minutes or until it has doubled in size.
- 4
Gently punch the dough down and use your hands to pat it into a large rectangle, about 9 by 15 inches in size.
- 5
Use a sharp knife or a pizza cutter to slice the dough into 12 even strips. Place the strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 6
Let the breadsticks rest on the tray for 10 minutes while you preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
- 7
Bake the breadsticks for 10 to 12 minutes until they are lightly golden.
- 8
While the bread is baking, whisk the melted butter and garlic powder together in a small bowl. Put the Parmesan cheese in a shallow dish.
- 9
Brush the warm breadsticks with the garlic butter and then roll each one in the Parmesan cheese until coated. Serve them warm.
๐ก Tips
Serve these while they are still nice and hot with a side of warm marinara sauce for dipping. If you have leftovers, keep them in a sealed container and warm them briefly in the microwave to make them soft again.
