Tuscan Chicken Orzo Bake
A cozy, comforting one pan meal that brings creamy Parmesan and sun dried tomato flavors to your dinner table.
recipesbynani.comThere is something so special about a meal that comes together in just one pan. This Tuscan Chicken Orzo Bake is one of my favorite recipes because it feels fancy enough for a weekend dinner but is simple enough to throw together after a long day of work.
I love how the orzo soaks up all those savory juices while it bakes. If you have extra sun dried tomatoes on hand, go ahead and toss them in because they add such a lovely sweetness to the creamy sauce.
🧺 Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite sized pieces
- 1 cup dry orzo pasta
- 1/2 cup sun dried tomatoes, chopped
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
👩🍳Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 2
Season the chicken pieces with salt, pepper, and dried herbs.
- 3
In a large oven safe baking dish, combine the dry orzo, chicken broth, heavy cream, garlic, and sun dried tomatoes.
- 4
Nestle the chicken pieces into the orzo mixture.
- 5
Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- 6
Remove the foil, sprinkle the Parmesan cheese over the top, and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the liquid is absorbed.
- 7
Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving with a garnish of fresh basil.
💡 Tips
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. When reheating, add a splash of water or broth to keep the orzo creamy, as it tends to absorb more liquid while sitting.
