There is nothing quite like a slow cooked pulled pork sandwich for a casual dinner. The meat becomes so tender it falls apart with a fork, and the smoky barbecue sauce is the perfect companion for a soft toasted bun.

My best tip is to let the pork rest for at least ten minutes before you shred it. This keeps all those delicious juices inside the meat rather than letting them run out onto your cutting board.

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients

  • 3 pounds pork shoulder or Boston butt
  • 1 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 brioche buns
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage slaw mix
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸณInstructions

  1. 1

Rub the pork shoulder all over with the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  2. 2

Place the seasoned pork in a slow cooker and cover it with the lid.

  3. 3

Cook on low heat for 8 hours or until the meat is very tender and pulls apart easily with two forks.

  4. 4

Discard any excess fat and shred the meat completely, then stir in the barbecue sauce.

  5. 5

In a small bowl, toss the cabbage slaw mix with the mayonnaise and apple cider vinegar.

  6. 6

Toast your brioche buns until they are golden brown.

  7. 7

Pile a generous amount of pulled pork onto each bun and top with a scoop of the crunchy slaw.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Serve these sandwiches with extra napkins and a side of potato chips. You can store leftover pork in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. If you like it spicy, add a few slices of pickled jalapenos on top.
