There is something so comforting about a plate of bite sized, golden fried chicken. These copycat nuggets are always a hit in my house because they are perfectly tender on the inside and have that signature light, crispy coating that everyone loves.

My secret for the best results is letting the chicken soak in pickle juice for a little while before breading. It makes the meat so juicy and adds that tiny hint of tang that makes them truly taste like the real deal.

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup pickle juice
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Oil for frying

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸณInstructions

  1. 1

Place the chicken pieces in a bowl and pour the pickle juice over them. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to let them marinate.

  2. 2

In a shallow bowl, whisk together the milk and the egg.

  3. 3

In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, powdered sugar, salt, pepper, and paprika.

  4. 4

Remove the chicken from the pickle juice and pat it dry with paper towels.

  5. 5

Dip each piece of chicken into the milk mixture and then dredge it in the flour mixture until well coated.

  6. 6

Heat about an inch of oil in a heavy skillet or pot over medium heat.

  7. 7

Fry the chicken in small batches until they are golden brown and cooked through, which usually takes about 3 to 4 minutes per side.

  8. 8

Remove the nuggets with a slotted spoon and let them drain on a wire rack or paper towels before serving.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Serve these warm with your favorite dipping sauce like honey mustard or barbecue sauce. You can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days and reheat them in an oven or air fryer to bring back the crunch.
