There is something so wonderful about the simple combination of crispy fried flour tortillas dusted with warm cinnamon and sweet sugar. They remind me of trips to the fair or fun afternoons in the kitchen when the kids want a sweet snack.

My favorite thing about this recipe is how fast it comes together. Just be sure to watch your oil temperature closely so the chips turn a beautiful golden brown without burning, and serve them while they are still slightly warm.

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients

  • 4 flour tortillas
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • Vegetable oil for frying

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸณInstructions

  1. 1

Whisk the sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl and set it aside.

  2. 2

Cut each flour tortilla into six or eight wedges using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.

  3. 3

Pour about an inch of oil into a deep skillet and heat it over medium heat until it reaches 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  4. 4

Carefully drop a few tortilla wedges into the hot oil and fry for about one minute on each side until they are golden brown and crisp.

  5. 5

Use a slotted spoon to remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel for a moment to drain.

  6. 6

While the chips are still hot, toss them generously in the cinnamon sugar mixture until well coated.

  7. 7

Repeat with the remaining tortilla wedges and enjoy.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

These chips are best served fresh and warm on the day they are made. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. They go perfectly with a side of fruit salsa or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
