Mississippi chicken has become a favorite in my house because it is so incredibly simple to put together. You just toss five basic ingredients into your slow cooker and let it do the hard work while you go about your day.

My best tip is to use a high quality ranch seasoning packet for the best flavor. This dish makes a very savory sauce that tastes wonderful over a pile of buttery mashed potatoes or cooked egg noodles.

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients

  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 packet dry ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 packet dry au jus gravy mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 6 whole pepperoncini peppers

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸณInstructions

  1. 1

Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker.

  2. 2

Sprinkle the dry ranch seasoning and the dry au jus mix evenly over the top of the chicken.

  3. 3

Place the butter on top of the seasoned chicken and add the pepperoncini peppers around the sides.

  4. 4

Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.

  5. 5

Shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker using two forks, stirring well to combine with the juices before serving.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. You can also shred the chicken and freeze it in meal sized portions for an even faster dinner next time. Serve this over rice or inside a warm toasted bun for a great sandwich.
