There is nothing quite like the smell of fresh peaches baking in the oven during the summer months. This peach sourdough bread has become a favorite in my kitchen because it is a simple way to use up extra fruit and sourdough discard all at once.

It makes for a wonderful snack after a day outside or a sweet treat with your morning coffee. If you happen to have an abundance of peaches, you can easily double this recipe and keep a few extra loaves in the freezer for later.

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sourdough discard
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups peeled and chopped fresh peaches
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸณInstructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a standard loaf pan.

  2. 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.

  4. 4

Stir the eggs, sourdough discard, milk, and vanilla into the butter and sugar mixture.

  5. 5

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the batter.

  6. 6

Gently fold in the chopped peaches.

  7. 7

Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan.

  8. 8

Bake for 65 to 70 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a thermometer reads 200 to 205 degrees Fahrenheit in the center.

  9. 9

Let the bread cool completely on a wire rack.

  10. 10

Whisk the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla together for the glaze, then drizzle it over the cooled loaf before slicing.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store your bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. If you want to keep it longer, slice the loaf and freeze the individual pieces so you can grab one whenever you need a quick snack.
