There is something so comforting about a classic rice krispie treat, but adding a big scoop of creamy peanut butter makes them even better. These are perfect for a sweet snack that everyone in the family will enjoy.

My favorite thing about this recipe is the extra chocolate on top. Just make sure to stir in your peanut butter cups when the marshmallow mixture is slightly cooled so they do not melt away completely.

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 10 ounces mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 6 cups rice cereal
  • 1 cup chopped peanut butter cups
  • 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter for drizzling

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸณInstructions

  1. 1

Grease a 9 by 13 inch baking pan with a little butter or cooking spray.

  2. 2

Melt the butter in a large pot over low heat.

  3. 3

Add the marshmallows and stir constantly until they are fully melted and smooth.

  4. 4

Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the 1/2 cup of peanut butter until well combined.

  5. 5

Fold in the rice cereal until every piece is evenly coated in the marshmallow mixture.

  6. 6

Let the mixture cool for two minutes, then gently stir in the chopped peanut butter cups.

  7. 7

Press the mixture firmly into your prepared pan using a greased spatula.

  8. 8

Melt the chocolate chips and the remaining 2 tablespoons of peanut butter together in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.

  9. 9

Drizzle the melted chocolate mixture over the top of the treats and let them set at room temperature before cutting into squares.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store these in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days to keep them chewy. If you want them extra firm, you can pop the pan in the fridge for twenty minutes before slicing.
