Muddy Buddies are a childhood favorite for a reason. They are incredibly easy to pull together when you need a sweet treat in a hurry. The combination of chocolate, creamy peanut butter, and powdered sugar creates a flavor that is impossible to resist.

My biggest tip for this recipe is to use a large plastic bag for the shaking part. It makes coating every single piece of cereal so much easier and keeps your kitchen clean at the same time.

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients

  • 9 cups Chex cereal
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸณInstructions

  1. 1

Measure the cereal into a very large bowl and set it aside.

  2. 2

In a microwave safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter.

  3. 3

Microwave the mixture on high for one minute, then stir well.

  4. 4

If the chocolate is not fully melted, microwave for another 30 seconds and stir again until smooth.

  5. 5

Stir the vanilla extract into the melted chocolate mixture.

  6. 6

Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal and stir gently with a spatula until every piece is coated.

  7. 7

Place the powdered sugar into a large resealable plastic bag.

  8. 8

Add the coated cereal to the bag, seal it tightly, and shake until all the cereal is covered in white sugar.

  9. 9

Pour the snack onto a large piece of wax paper to cool completely before serving.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store your leftover muddy buddies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. If you want a fun twist, try adding festive sprinkles or mini chocolate candies to the mix after it has cooled down.
