Bang Bang Shrimp is a favorite in my kitchen because it hits that perfect balance of crunch and creaminess. The sauce has just the right amount of kick to keep things interesting without being too hot for the kids.

I love serving this as a fun appetizer for movie nights or as a main dish over a simple bed of rice. My top tip is to make sure your oil is nice and hot before dropping the shrimp in so they stay crispy and not greasy.

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients

  • 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Oil for frying
  • Green onions for garnish

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸณInstructions

  1. 1

Whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, and garlic powder in a small bowl until smooth. Set the sauce aside.

  2. 2

Pour the buttermilk into a bowl and place the cornstarch in a separate shallow dish.

  3. 3

Dip each shrimp into the buttermilk, then roll it in the cornstarch until well coated.

  4. 4

Heat about an inch of oil in a large pan over medium heat.

  5. 5

Fry the shrimp in small batches for about two minutes per side until they are golden and crispy.

  6. 6

Remove the shrimp and drain them on a paper towel.

  7. 7

Toss the hot shrimp in your prepared sauce and serve immediately with a sprinkle of sliced green onions.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Serve these right away while they are still nice and crunchy. If you have leftovers, keep the sauce separate so the shrimp do not get soggy in the fridge.
