Nani's Easy Hibachi Steak and Fried Rice
Bring the fun of a Japanese steakhouse right to your own kitchen with these savory, bite sized steak pieces served over flavorful fried rice.
recipesbynani.comThere is something so satisfying about the sizzle of steak on a hot grill. This recipe is one of my favorites because it captures that classic hibachi flavor without needing to head out to a restaurant. It feels special enough for a weekend meal but is simple enough to put together on a busy weeknight.
My biggest tip is to get your pan or griddle as hot as possible before you add the meat. That quick sear is exactly what gives the steak that beautiful golden crust while keeping the inside tender and juicy.
🧺 Ingredients
- 1.5 pounds sirloin steak, cut into 1 inch cubes
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 cups cooked white rice, chilled
- 1 cup frozen peas and carrots mix
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce for the rice
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
👩🍳Instructions
- 1
Whisk together the mayonnaise, Sriracha, and lime juice in a small bowl to make your dipping sauce, then set it aside.
- 2
Heat a large skillet or wok over high heat with a tablespoon of vegetable oil.
- 3
Add the steak cubes in a single layer and sear them until browned on all sides, about 3 to 4 minutes. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
- 4
In the same pan, add the remaining oil, peas, and carrots. Sauté for 2 minutes until tender.
- 5
Add the chilled rice, soy sauce, and sesame oil to the vegetables. Stir fry for about 3 minutes until the rice is hot and well combined.
- 6
Push the rice to the side of the pan and add the butter and minced garlic to the empty space. Once fragrant, toss the steak back into the pan and mix everything together for a final minute.
- 7
Serve your steak and rice warm with the spicy mayo drizzled over the top.
💡 Tips
Leftover rice works best for this recipe because it is drier and crisps up nicely in the pan. You can store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days and reheat them quickly in a skillet.
