Quinoa is a wonderful staple to keep in your pantry because it is so versatile and cooks up fast. It makes a great base for grain bowls or a healthy side dish for dinner.

My best tip is to rinse your quinoa well before it hits the pot. This removes the natural coating called saponin which can sometimes make the grain taste a little bit bitter.

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients

  • 1 cup uncooked quinoa
  • 2 cups water or vegetable broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸณInstructions

  1. 1

Place the quinoa in a fine mesh strainer and rinse it under cold water for about 30 seconds.

  2. 2

Combine the rinsed quinoa, water, and salt in a medium saucepan.

  3. 3

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium high heat.

  4. 4

Turn the heat down to low, cover the pot with a tight fitting lid, and let it simmer for 15 minutes.

  5. 5

Remove the pot from the heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.

  6. 6

Remove the lid and fluff the quinoa gently with a fork before serving.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days. You can also freeze cooked quinoa for up to three months. It tastes great mixed into salads or tossed with roasted vegetables.
