If you have ever struggled to find a way to eat your greens, this simple sautéed kale is the answer. It is tender, flavorful, and pairs perfectly with almost any main course you are serving for dinner.

My biggest tip is to remove the tough stems before you start cooking. This makes the leaves much softer and easier to chew, ensuring a pleasant texture in every single bite.

🧺 Ingredients

  • 1 large bunch of kale, stems removed and leaves chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

👩‍🍳Instructions

  1. 1

Wash the kale thoroughly and dry it well before chopping the leaves into bite sized pieces.

  2. 2

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  3. 3

Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the pan, cooking for about one minute until the garlic is fragrant.

  4. 4

Toss in the chopped kale and stir well to coat it in the garlic oil.

  5. 5

Cook the kale for about 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the leaves are wilted and tender.

  6. 6

Remove the pan from the heat, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and stir in the fresh lemon juice before serving.

💡 Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. This dish is great served warm as a side or tossed into cold pasta salads for an extra boost of nutrition.
