When you need a meal that feels special but takes very little effort, this is the one to make. You get tender roast beef and gooey melted cheese tucked into a perfectly toasted bun, which makes it a favorite in my home for those nights when everyone is extra hungry.

My secret for success is using good quality deli roast beef and a flavorful beef broth for dipping. Make sure to toast the buns until they are just golden brown so they hold up well when you dunk them into the savory juices.

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients

  • 4 hoagie rolls or sub buns
  • 1 pound thinly sliced deli roast beef
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸณInstructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven broiler to high.

  2. 2

Spread the softened butter onto the cut sides of the hoagie rolls and place them on a baking sheet, then toast them in the oven for about 2 minutes until light golden brown.

  3. 3

While the buns toast, pour the beef broth, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce into a small saucepan and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat.

  4. 4

Pile the roast beef onto the toasted buns and top each sandwich with two slices of provolone cheese.

  5. 5

Place the assembled sandwiches back under the broiler for 1 or 2 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and melted.

  6. 6

Pour the warm beef broth into small bowls for each person to use as a dipping sauce, and serve your sandwiches hot.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Serve these with a side of crunchy potato chips or a fresh green salad to complete the meal. If you have leftovers, keep the meat and buns separate in the fridge and assemble them fresh the next day so the bread stays nice and crisp.
