There is something so comforting about a plate of beef tips served over a big mound of creamy mashed potatoes. This meal is a favorite in my house because the beef gets so tender it practically melts away, and the gravy is full of deep flavor without needing a dozen different spices.

My best advice is to use a good quality chuck roast and trim off any large pieces of fat before you start. Cooking it low and slow is the secret to getting that perfect texture that everyone loves.

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef chuck roast, cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1 can condensed French onion soup
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸณInstructions

  1. 1

Season the cubed beef with salt and pepper.

  2. 2

Heat the oil in a large skillet or pot over medium high heat.

  3. 3

Brown the beef in small batches until all sides are seared, then transfer the meat to a slow cooker.

  4. 4

Pour the condensed onion soup, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce over the beef.

  5. 5

Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours until the meat is very tender.

  6. 6

Whisk the flour and water together in a small bowl until smooth to create a slurry.

  7. 7

Stir the flour mixture into the slow cooker and cook on high for another 15 minutes to thicken the gravy before serving.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Serve this over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice to soak up all the extra gravy. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. It actually tastes even better the next day once the flavors have had more time to meld.
