These Valentine Muddy Buddies are a favorite in my house whenever February rolls around. They combine the perfect crunch of cereal with a rich coating of chocolate and peanut butter that everyone seems to love.

My best tip for this recipe is to make sure your cereal is completely coated before adding the powdered sugar. If you find the chocolate is setting too fast, just work in smaller batches to get that perfect powdery finish.

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients

  • 9 cups Chex cereal
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup Valentine sprinkles

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸณInstructions

  1. 1

Measure the cereal into a very large bowl and set it aside.

  2. 2

Combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter in a microwave safe bowl.

  3. 3

Microwave the mixture on high for one minute, then stir well. Continue heating in 30 second intervals until the mixture is smooth.

  4. 4

Stir the vanilla extract into the melted chocolate mixture.

  5. 5

Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal and gently stir with a spatula until every piece is evenly coated.

  6. 6

Place the powdered sugar into a large gallon sized plastic bag.

  7. 7

Add the coated cereal to the bag, seal it tightly, and shake well until the cereal is covered in sugar.

  8. 8

Spread the mixture out onto a sheet of wax paper to cool completely.

  9. 9

Stir in the Valentine sprinkles once the chocolate has set.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store these in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. If you are gifting these, put them in clear cellophane bags tied with a pretty ribbon.
