Nothing says summer like a warm bowl of peach cobbler topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This recipe uses whole wheat flour to provide a lovely nutty flavor that pairs perfectly with the natural sweetness of fresh, ripe peaches.

This is one of my favorite quick desserts for backyard gatherings. The process is very simple, and it comes together in just a few steps. You can leave the skins on the peaches for a rustic texture, or peel them if you prefer a smoother finish.

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients

  • 6 cups fresh peaches, sliced into quarters
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸณInstructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. 2

In a small bowl, toss the sliced peaches with the brown sugar and cinnamon. Set this mixture aside.

  3. 3

Place the butter into a 9x13 inch baking pan and put it in the oven just until the butter is melted.

  4. 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, sugar, and baking powder.

  5. 5

Pour the milk into the dry ingredients and whisk until the batter is smooth.

  6. 6

Pour the batter directly over the melted butter in the baking pan, but do not stir.

  7. 7

Arrange the peach mixture evenly over the top of the batter.

  8. 8

Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. If you prefer to use frozen peaches, make sure to thaw them and drain any extra liquid before baking. Adding a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to the peach mixture can help brighten the flavors even more.
